Final Project
Summary
Overall Impression:
After reviewing many different Websites from other community
colleges in
Since some will define a Website as “first and foremost a
communication tool,” I have tried to incorporate the answers to the basic
questions visitors may have about our department (for example, instructor phone
numbers, email addresses, basic information about each discipline, a list of
courses offered in each discipline, and contact information for the department
chairperson and secretary.
I believe the home page is well laid out with links to the
entire Website. If the Advancement
Office decides to link to this site, they will probably remove the link I
created to the Social Science fall class schedule as they already have a link
to the entire schedule for the College on their main site. I have included these pages at my
instructor’s request to show my ability to create frames pages. Also, since the College uses tables rather
than frames, this worked out very well.
Overall, I am pleased with the way my Website turned
out. I feel the layout is attractive and
consistent. The organization is clear, the
links are relevant, and the content is accurate and up-to-date. A form is included for visitors to provide
feedback on the Website. The Website
works well in both Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. Information on each page is clear and logical. However, it seems each time I view my
Website, I find something to change. I
suppose all Web masters do the same thing.
Things I Feel Are Good About This Site:
Possible Improvements:
Finally, I would like to thank my instructor, Mrs. Pepin, for
allowing me to create a Website for my place of employment, the Social Science
Department at St. Clair County Community College (SC4), as the Third Project
and then to expand and improve it for the Final Project for this class. Now SC4 will have the option of adding a link
to our department from their main Website; this is something we have desired
for a long time. I would also like to
thank Wendolyn Willison for suggesting I take this class and Marilind Roff for
allowing me to substitute this class for the one I was scheduled to take.
